In 2025, Xinhai Mining undertook a 1000t/d (1000-ton-per-day)zinc ore flotation project in Mongolia. The project owner is a long-standing client of Xinhai, having previously entrusted Xinhai with the construction of a 3500t/d iron ore mining, processing, and tailings project in Mongolia back in 2018. The client's decision to choose Xinhai again highlights the success of their previous collaboration and endorses Xinhai Mining's capabilities. This article provides an overview of this zinc flotation plant project.

This 1000t/d zinc flotation project out in Mongolia is a full EPC job that Xinhai took on—from doing the mine tests and figuring out the process flow, right through supplying all the gear and handling the on-site install work.
For the first stage, they're building the zinc concentrator using a pretty standard flotation setup. But thinking ahead, Xinhai left plenty of extra space around the site so that in another six or seven years, adding a second phase for molybdenum and iron processing should be straightforward—no major headaches.

Mongolia's winters are brutal, with outdoor temperatures easily plunging to -30°C or even lower. Right from the design stage, Xinhai factored in that nasty cold. They placed big pieces like thickeners and water tanks inside the main workshop building. Using regular heating systems, they keep the indoor temp steady around 3–4°C, which stops pipes and equipment from freezing up and lets production keep rolling without interruptions.
They've also got a proper tailings handling system in place. The tailings get treated according to the rules before going into the pond—everything is done in a way that's compliant and as environmentally friendly as possible.
Since the project's launch, the Xinhai installation team has overcome challenges such as severe cold and difficult working conditions, efficiently advancing the construction in phases and fulfilling service commitments with professionalism and dedication.

Equipment shipments began in August 2025, and the installation team officially mobilized on September 22nd. The first construction phase continued until November 22nd. During this period, the team grew from an initial 9 members to 20, flexibly organized into 4 work groups. Before the onset of low temperatures and high winds in November, all outdoor installation work was successfully completed. Core equipment, including the steel raw ore bin, ball mill, flotation cells, and filter press were installed and secured. Supporting facilities like the clean water tank and fine ore bin were also fabricated and welded on-site.
After the plant's heating system was commissioned at the end of December 2025, the team promptly returned to commence the second phase of indoor construction. This phase involves a team of 14 people and is scheduled for 4 months. The focus is on advancing core works such as the installation of 15m and 20m diameter thickeners, equipment operating platforms, various piping systems, reagent preparation equipment, power distribution, and automatic control systems, ensuring the project progresses smoothly according to plan.

The equipment is assembled and undergoes seal testing at the factory, requiring only bolted assembly on-site. This method offers convenient installation and disassembly, lower transportation costs, and avoids the challenging environment and potential contamination associated with on-site welding, laying a technical and practical foundation for Xinhai's expansion into high-end European and American markets.

The project site faces not only temperatures dropping below minus 30 degrees Celsius but also challenges such as the absence of installed cranes, lack of grid power connection, and concurrent operations. The Xinhai installation team flexibly adjusts construction plans, strictly adheres to installation specifications and safety standards, overcomes issues like power shortages and spatial constraints, and steadily advances the construction. They fulfill service commitments through concrete actions, demonstrating strong project management capabilities and the corporate responsibility to overcome difficulties.
In a photo sent back from the site, a team member wrote: "The tension has finally eased! A critical lift combining a mobile crane and the overhead crane.
