Metallurgical Testwork and Process Development
Based on the characteristics of the local hard-rock ore and high-value large-flake graphite resources, Xinhai conducted systematic metallurgical testwork, including raw ore performance analysis, process condition testing, and open-circuit and closed-circuit verification.
To avoid excessive grinding and protect the valuable flake structure, a highly adaptable processing flowsheet was developed:
ROM ore → coarse crushing → fine crushing → coarse grinding → rougher flotation → regrinding → multiple cleaner flotation stages
The graphite concentrate achieved a fixed carbon content of 95.06%, with an overall recovery rate of 90.16%.
The proportion of large flakes was outstanding, with +80 mesh high-value flakes accounting for 61.26%, meeting the requirements of the high-end graphite market.
At the same time, the testwork confirmed that the local ore is suitable for a ball milling process, with better grinding performance compared with rod milling. These results provided essential technical data for equipment selection and plant design.
