The Lunar New Year break was barely over. Xinhai Mining Research Institute’s labs were back in full swing almost immediately. The festive calm quickly gave way to a hive of focused activity. Researchers returned early and turned their attention to the test benches. They calibrated reagents, analyzed data, refined processes, and plunged into a new round of beneficiation pilot research.

Over the past year, our team worked tirelessly and completed more than 230 beneficiation pilot projects. These projects included process optimization for long-term clients (improving concentrate grades and recovery rates), ground-up process design for new mine owners (tailored to their ore’s unique characteristics), and cost-effective, high-efficiency solutions for complex low-grade, multi-component ore deposits. Across all projects, we adhere strictly to data-driven decision-making. Our standardized workflow for ore samples is straightforward and consists of three main stages.
First, we conduct a comprehensive compositional analysis. This step accurately measures ore grade, impurity content, mineral composition, and other key metrics. It gives us a complete understanding of the ore’s fundamental properties.
Second, we design custom pilot tests. We develop multiple test protocols, including gradient tests for grind fineness (ranging from 60% to 85% passing 200 mesh), precise proportioning of collectors and depressants, and combined tests for separation flows and equipment pairing. All options are tested and cross-compared repeatedly.
Third, we finalize the process using data. We refine the optimal scheme based on detailed test results and define clear KPIs (concentrate grade, recovery rate, yield). This gives my owners a transparent view of their project’s economic potential.

Case1:In a 2025 lead-zinc ore pilot project, the raw ore contained 1.2% Pb and 3.5% Zn. By adjusting flotation reagent ratios and optimizing process flows, we achieved a lead concentrate grade above 60%, a zinc concentrate grade above 50%, and an overall recovery rate exceeding 80% for both metals. These results provided our client with precise technical guidelines for their commercial production.
Case2: “We took on a high-arsenic gold ore project that the industry widely regards as refractory,” our technical director recalled. “Conventional cyanidation only achieved a gold leaching rate below 60%. We ran three rounds of small-scale tests, redesigned the pretreatment process, and eventually raised the leaching rate above 92%. Later, the client told us they recovered their entire investment in just two years by building the plant according to our design.”
