Among many manganese ore classifications, there is a kind of high-phosphorus manganese ore, whose value of development and utilization is restricted due to its high phosphorus content. With the gradual decrease of easy-to-exploit manganese ore resources, how to utilize high-phosphorus manganese ore has become an issue of increasing concern for relevant practitioners. With 30 years of experience in mineral processing industry, Xinhai Mineral Equipment has summarized a set of practical high phosphorus manganese ore treatment technologies, which can help customers remove phosphorus impurities and enhance the utilization value of manganese. These treatment technologies mainly include:
The working principle of flotation method is to change the surface properties of minerals by adding trapping agent and adjusting agent, so as to realize the effective separation of manganese and phosphorus.
In high-phosphorus manganese ore flotation, we commonly used collectors are fatty acid and amine collectors, these collectors can effectively adsorb on the surface of manganese minerals, enhance its hydrophobicity, so that it is easier to attach to the bubbles on the float.
The role of adjusting agent is to adjust the pH value of the pulp, so as to optimize the flotation conditions and provide a better environment for the separation of manganese and phosphorus.
The principle of leaching method is to dissolve the impurity minerals through the reaction between chemical reagents and minerals. In high-phosphorus manganese ore dressing, the commonly used leaching methods include acid leaching and alkaline leaching.
Acid leaching: Usually, acidic reagents such as sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid are used to dissolve the phosphorus impurities into the solution, so as to realize the separation from manganese minerals.
Alkaline leaching: Alkaline reagents such as sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide are used to make the phosphorus impurities form soluble phosphates.
Leaching method is usually used to treat manganese ores with high phosphorus content.
Thermal treatment method is to make the phosphorus impurities transformed into volatile substances through high temperature, or in a state easy to be separated. Thermal treatment is generally used in combination with reduction roasting. Reducing agent is added in the treatment process, and the high temperature makes the phosphorus react with the reducing agent to generate volatile forest minerals, such as phosphine, and so on, so as to escape from the ore. Through this method to reduce the phosphorus impurities, enhance the grade of manganese concentrate.
Bioleaching method utilizes the metabolic activities of microorganisms to dissolve the phosphorus impurities in the ore. This method is characterized by low energy consumption and environmental friendliness, but the processing speed is slow. Bioleaching usually uses microorganisms such as sulfate-reducing bacteria to reduce the phosphorus impurities in the ore to a soluble form under anaerobic conditions, thus realizing the separation from manganese minerals. For example, in the bioleaching experiment of a high-phosphorus manganese ore, after 30 days of bioleaching, the removal rate of phosphorus reached 30%.
In fact, it is difficult to remove the phosphorus impurity by a single treatment method, therefore, in the actual production, many methods are often used to combine, which is the joint process.
For example, in a high-phosphorus manganese ore beneficiation project, the combined process of flotation + leaching method, the manganese recovery rate reached 85%, and the content of phosphorus was reduced to 0.2%.
Through the above five methods, basically the separation of phosphorus and manganese can be realized, which is the common treatment technology for high phosphorus manganese ore. Xinhai Mining can provide one-stop service from ore dressing test, process design to equipment installation and commissioning to help customers solve the problem of high phosphorus manganese ore treatment and enhance the value of manganese ore resources.
